ANNUAL DIRECTORS GUILD PETER BROOK LECTURE - WITH PHYLLIDA LLOYD
Stage and film director Phyllida Lloyd will deliver the second Annual Directors Guild Peter Brook Lecture on Sunday 2nd October 2011. Actress and director Fiona Shaw will host.
Phyllida Lloyd CBE, director of the hugely successful stage and film versions of Mamma Mia!, is currently finishing her latest project The Iron Lady, a feature film starring Meryl Streep in the lead role of Margaret Thatcher which open worldwide in December. Phyllida has garnered praise for her work across many media: opera, musicals and theatre, on stages around the world, on television and on international screens. Her stage career spans the Royal Court Theatre, Northern Opera, English National Opera and the National Theatre. Her film version of Gloriana received an International Emmy, a FIPA d'Or and the Royal Philharmonic Society Award.
The Annual Directors Guild Peter Brook Lecture, launched last year, is organised by the Directors Guild Trust and the Directors Guild of Great Britain. The Lecture gives leading directors from across disciplines a platform to address their colleagues and the general public. Peter Brook CH - Honorary President of the Guild - delivered the inaugural lecture in 2010 to an audience including Sir Richard Eyre (interlocutor), Dame Liz Forgan, Edward Hall, Sir Trevor Nunn, Alan Rickman, Rosemary Squire, Janet Suzman and Frances de la Tour.
The Annual Directors Guild Peter Brook Lecture 2011 will take place at The British Library Auditorium on 2nd October at 2.30pm.
